Journal aims and scope

The objective of this journal is to communicate recent advances in engineering techniques. The fields covered include mechanical and constructional engineering with an emphasis on research and development leading to practical problem solving or new engineering desings.

The scope of this journal includes:
• Mechanical systems and components
• Tribology
• Contact mechanics
• Mechanical engineering modelling
• Numerical analysis of engineering application and designs
• Computer techniques and design
• Mechanical testing and experimental research
• Fatigue and fracture mechanical testing
• Material charaterisation
• Mechanical joining, threaded connections
• Welding techniques and metallurgy
• Pipeline steel technology
• Non destructive testing
• Fracture mechanics

The journal Sustainable Construction and Design publishes original research papers only. These can be regular submissions or they can be selected from the submissions of the SCAD conferences and symposia.

Information for authors

Review process

Prior to review, all submitted work will be checked by the editor or editorial board members in order to determine if the paper falls within the scope of the journal. After approval, the draft paper will be subjected to peer review by at least one referee to ensure both accuracy and relevance. Revision to the draft paper may be required. The referees remain blind throughout the review process.

Submissions will be checked for:
• originality (the work should not have been published before)
• relevance to science and engineering
• soundness of the used methodology
• clearly presented results that support the conclusions
• correct references to previous relevant work

Document preparation

All documents should be prepared according to this MS Word template. Only original research papers are accepted with a minimum length of 6 and a maximum length of 12 pages.

Draft papers should be submitted in pdf format. Files size should remain lower than 5 Mb.
After acceptance, the final version of the paper should be submitted both in pdf and MS Word format. Each file should not exceed 5 Mb in size.

How to submit

Draft papers can be send by e-mail to the journal editor (see contact address). Details for submitting final documents will be provided to the authors after acceptance of the draft version.

Charges and handling fees

Currently no charges apply for authors to publish their work in the journal. However, this might be subjected to changes if the editorial board decides otherwise. In that case, this will be clearly communicated to all authors and announced on the journal's website.

Sustainable Construction and Design is an open access journal. After publication, the rights of the journal are held by the Laboratory Soete of Ghent University according to the Creative Commons, Attribution 2.0. This means that all contents is freely available without charge and users are allowed to read, download, share and remix the work, but with attribution to the authors. All with the understanding that other rights on the works are not affected by this license. The full license text can be found on http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/be/
